Battle of Brown Rice

A friend recently gave me the tip to put a dish towel under the lid of the pot while the rice cooks. I gave it a shot and it worked. I was curious though if this method changes the end product. I cooked two pots of rice, each with 1 cup of dry rice with 2 cups of water. The rice was out of the same bag for both pots. I put a towel under the lid of one pot for the entire cooking time. The end result was very close. The pot of rice using the towel method did have slightly more defined grains. It’s hard to see a difference, especially in the photo but the towel rice is on the saucer on the left..
